Enterprise Content Management
Improved Manageability and Scalability for Sharepoint.
Metalogix StoragePoint allows content managed in Sharepoint Record Center to be stored outside of Sharepoint. While the metadata associated with the content, along with a pointer to the externalized content, remain stored in Sharepoint, the actual BLOB (binary large object) can be written to an external data store such as an EMC© Centera© storage system.
Compliance and HSM
In addition to the database manageability benefit, StoragePoint also addresses the regulatory compliance needs of many organizations, most notably those in the financial services and health care sectors that operate under regulatory guidelines such as SEC, SOX and HIPPA that require content declared as a record to be unalterable.
By extending the Record Center capability delivered within Sharepoint to allow for the externalization of content to a WORM-based storage medium, StoragePoint provides a solution to this requirement. And since StoragePoint is configurable per Record Routing rule, a single MOSS Records Center can externalize content to any number of external data stores of the same or different types. An organization can also leverage StoragePoint’s Information Management Policy actions to setup a multi-tiered storage hierarchy or HSM, where less expensive storage is used to store content as it ages.
